Spanning an impressive 175,000 square feet, this highly automated facility is home to 240 Team Members and 5 manufacturing lines capable of producing products in the visual communication, interior surfaces and exterior solutions markets. Just this year, the plant completed a 30,000 sq ft expansion of its new warehouse, and there is an additional 60,000 sq ft of production space under review for 2027. The expansion of the facility has contributed to the plant’s ability to produce efficiently, by investing in training, operations excellence and modernizing equipment. In the past 3 years, this plant has reached record levels of production output and “best in class” quality levels and customer satisfaction.

Job Title: Senior Industrial Engineer (salary)
MUST HAVE:
  • $1M+ CAPX leadership experience (experienced in evaluating quotes, interpreting engineering specifications, ROI, supplier evaluation)
  • Highly skilled in leading multiple and complex projects using MS Project / Gantt Charts. Must be skilled in Budgeting and RISK management.
  • Plant Layout / AutoCAD skills
  • Can independently lead capital improvement projects, manage contractors and provide executive level presentations.
Shift: Days (Monday through Friday)
Compensation: $115 to $125K
Location: La Porte, IN
Direct Hire and Reports into the Maintenance Manager

Job Purpose
Lead and implement plant-wide capital expansion projects. Must be skilled at interpreting and establishing machine and equipment specifications. Can independently work with contractors and suppliers. Be a champion of TEAM facilitation - listen, seek input, and serve the business. Bring forward the VISION of the plant through budgeting, return on investment, KPI and risk management.
Tasks / Essential Duties
1. Skilled at Plant Layout and Design (including AutoCAD proposals)
2. Can lead LARGE (up to $30M) Capital Expenditure projects
3. Can develop proposals, provide cost justification and ROI (Return on Investment)
4. Work with city planning, manage building permitting process and legal proceedings.
5. Design and implement building and equipment modifications (i.e. utilities, power distribution, plumbing, etc...)
6. Skilled at developing, interpreting and optimizing machine specifications.
7. Lead cost reduction initiatives relating to OEE, energy usage, material conveyance, etc...
8. Skilled at project management. Assures on-time and within-budget completion of all projects.
9. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing (including process charting, standard work, visual management, error proofing, etc...)
10. Can lead kaizens and problem-solving activities

Education: Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering (or other engineering related discipline)

Qualifications Required
1. Minimum 10-years engineering experience

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Contract reading, negotiation and supplier conflict resolution
2. AutoCAD (2D formatting skills, clean presentation of drawings)
3. Machine specification interpretation
4. Excellent communication skills are required, including active listening and effective speaking.
5. Team Oriented: Ability to demonstrate cooperation and support.

Requirements

  1. Must be US Citizen
  2. Must be willing to travel and perform work onsite (50-hrs work week)
  3. Maintain your own laptop equipment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  4. Can sign Independent Contractor Agreements in advance (to be provided if selected)
  5. Can create 1-page Profile Introduction in advance (1-page template will be provided if selected)

Bonuses

This role does not qualify for bonus compensation.

     1. Proficient at Organizational development (i.e. plant improvement)
     2. Can perform the role of Plant Manager, Site Leader, Director / VP of Operations / Excellence
     3. Can teach Transformation Leadership, Plant Layout / Production Flow Analysis

Perform work at client location. 
  • Conduct assessments, facilitate improvements or lead / teach new activities.
  • Build relationships with new customers.
  • Generate, publish and report out daily or weekly findings / results.
